Abstract

In this paper, we present a solution algorithm for frictional contact problems involving a non-smooth friction criterion in the contact plane. The algorithm, based on the Uzawa method, follows a predictor/corrector strategy. The first step gives a prediction of the displacements and is obtained by solving the equilibrium equations. The reactions are computed in a second step following a local scheme. The friction condition considered in this paper has a diamond-like shape. The algorithm which does not require the differentiability of the friction criterion is tested on an example. The effect of the friction criterion shape is clearly displayed.
