With this the senate of the university acknowledges his "outstanding scientific achievements, especially in the fields of numerical mechanics, contact mechanics, the treatment of multiscale problems as well as the application to complex problems in engineering and sciences". The honorary doctorate was given to Prof. Wriggers during a ceremony on 26th June.
